I was in the middle of sending a work email today when my phone rang. It was from a number that i did not recognise.

Caller: Hi. Is this Lea?
Me: Yes.
Caller: Hi. This is Maliani from hitz.
Me: Oh. Hi Maliani.
Caller: I hear that you want an interview with hitz.
Me: Yes, i do.
Caller: Can you first tell me the answer to the riddle?

(In my video resume, i gave a riddle and said that i would reveal the answer when they call me in for an interview)

Me: [Laughs] No. You'll have to give me the interview first and i'll let you know when i'm there.
Caller: [Laughs] So your name is Lea Spy...kerman?
Me: Yes. Spykerman.
Caller: Eh, this is Jude (my 14-year-old cousin) lah!

No doubt, the ultimate Fuck My Life moment i've ever experienced.

If you know me, you'll know how much that job offer would mean to me. I was heading towards cloud nine when i heard about the interview. And when the caller turned out to be Jude, that drop back down to earth was so hard, i went silent for a few seconds. When Jude realised that his prank affected me more than he thought it would, he apologised. But i wasn't angry. In fact, i couldn't stop laughing about it later.

I was just disappointed. When will the real offer come?
